CEBU CITY, Philippines — Preparations for the highly anticipated IRONMAN 70.3 Lapu-Lapu 2026 are now in full swing following a coordination meeting held on Tuesday, June 23, at the Lapu-Lapu City Hall.
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Cindi King Chan led the meeting alongside IRONMAN Philippines General Manager Princess Galura, bringing together key partners, stakeholders, and government agencies to ensure the successful staging of another world-class triathlon event on August 9.

Galura was joined by officials from Sunrise Events Inc. (SEI), the organizer of the race, as well as representatives from the local governments of Cebu City and Cordova. Also present were officials from the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX), the technical working group, the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, the Philippine Coast Guard, and Mactan Newtown.
The coordination meeting focused on logistics, safety, traffic management, and overall race operations as organizers gear up for one of the country’s premier endurance events.
Mactan Newtown will once again serve as the race’s epicenter, hosting the race expo, start and transition areas, and finish line festivities throughout race week.

“Through this, we also boost our tourism sector as athletes, supporters, and visitors from around the world gather in Lapu-Lapu City, bringing in energy, opportunities, and global attention to our local communities while nurturing a stronger culture of sports,” Chan said in a Facebook post.
The IRONMAN 70.3 Lapu-Lapu features a challenging 1.9-kilometer swim, 90-kilometer bike ride, and 21-kilometer run course that traverses Lapu-Lapu City, the municipality of Cordova, the CCLEX, and portions of Cebu City’s South Road Properties (SRP).
Last year’s edition attracted more than 1,400 triathletes from 49 countries, and organizers are expecting a similar turnout for the 2026 race.
