Good news for swimmers and beachgoers in St Julian’s.
Health authorities have officially lifted the swimming advisory that had been issued for part of Balluta Bay after new water quality tests confirmed the area is once again safe for bathing.
The Environmental Health Directorate announced that repeated seawater sampling carried out over the past few days showed that water quality at the affected site had returned to acceptable standards.
The warning had applied to the left side of Balluta Bay, where earlier tests had detected contamination levels that prompted authorities to advise against swimming as a precaution.
Following the latest results, the site has now been declared fit for bathing once again and the health warning has been withdrawn.
The Environmental Health Directorate said it will continue monitoring bathing water quality around Malta and Gozo in line with EU regulations to ensure public health and safety.
So if you’ve been avoiding a dip at Balluta Bay, the all-clear has now officially been given.
