More than 3,300 students across Malta and Gozo will receive a €300 voucher covering a full year of internet service as part of a government scheme aimed at supporting education and digital access.
The initiative is open to students who started post-secondary studies for the first time during the 2025/26 academic year and are eligible for a stipend.
This includes students attending Junior College, Higher Secondary, MCAST, ITS and other post-secondary institutions.
The vouchers will allow students to benefit from 12 months of internet service through one of Malta’s internet providers, helping them access online learning resources, carry out research and stay connected throughout their studies.
Education Minister Byron Camilleri described the scheme as a direct investment in young people’s futures.
“In an increasingly digital world, internet access is no longer a luxury but a necessity,” Camilleri said.
He added that the government wants every student to have equal opportunities to learn, develop their skills and achieve their ambitions, regardless of their circumstances.
The scheme was first introduced in 2021 and has already benefited more than 9,200 students.
This year alone, the government is investing more than €1 million in the initiative.
Eligible students have already started receiving emails from the Student Maintenance Grants Section inviting them to choose their preferred internet provider.
The vouchers are expected to start being distributed from mid-July and can be redeemed until 30th September of this year.
For thousands of students preparing for another academic year, that’s one less bill to worry about.
