The Independent National Electoral Commission has presented Certificates of Return to winners of the bye-elections held on June 20, 2026, across Rivers, Enugu, Nasarawa, Ondo and Kano states.
The certificates were presented on behalf of the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, by the Supervising National Commissioner for Rivers State, Mrs May Agbamuche-Mbu.
This was contained in a statement posted on the INEC’s X handle on Tuesday.
In her remarks, Agbamuche-Mbu congratulated the winners and urged them to serve their constituents diligently, noting that their primary responsibility is to represent the people effectively.
“The most important responsibility is to represent the people well,” she said.
She noted “that Certificates of Return would also be presented to winners in Kebbi State for the Zuru State Constituency election and in Ekiti State for the governorship election.”
PUNCH Online reports the All Progressives Congress recorded a dominant performance in Saturday’s by-elections, securing victories in Ondo, Nasarawa, Kano and Kebbi states, while the Peoples Democratic Party retained the Rivers South-East Senatorial District seat.
The results, announced by INEC on Sunday, strengthened the APC’s legislative presence across the country, although some of the contests were overshadowed by allegations of electoral irregularities, violence and voter intimidation.
