
The U.K. and Ireland box office experienced a surge over the weekend as Disney’s “Toy Story 5” captured the top spot, debuting to a spectacular £15.3 million ($20.2 million).
Opening in over 300 locations, the Pixar feature delivered the biggest opening weekend in the history of the franchise for the territory, dominating the theatrical marketplace with 72% of all ticket sales across the three-day weekend.
Universal claimed the second place with Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi thriller “Disclosure Day,” which brought in $2.2 million in its second weekend. The high-concept event film, starring Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor, has now amassed a cumulative total of $11.9 million.
Universal also took the No. 3 spot with Curry Barker’s horror-romance “Obsession.” The breakout genre hit pulled in $1.2 million, pushing its running total to $20.3 million.
Paramount’s horror spoof reboot “Scary Movie” was in fourth place, adding $735,071 to its lifetime haul, which now stands at a cumulative $11.1 million.
A24’s psychological horror “Backrooms” followed at number five, pulling in $588,183 over the frame to push its total to $15.5 million. “Masters Of The Universe,” distributed by Sony, took sixth place, securing $523,585 for a running total of $6.5 million.
Universal’s musical biopic “Michael” hit seventh place with $421,869, boosting its remarkable overall haul to $69.2 million. Disney’s “Star Wars” spinoff “The Mandalorian And Grogu” followed in eighth place with $289,949, lifting its cume to $20.3 million.
Bakrania Media’s comedy sequel “Cocktail 2” debuted at ninth place, securing $249,874 in its opening session. Disney’s “The Devil Wears Prada 2” occupied 10th place, earning $111,833 to push its long-running cume to $45 million.
Looking ahead, the release schedule features a massive rollout of wide arrivals and diverse specialized titles. The mid-week arrivals kick off on Thursday, June 25, with Warner Bros. debuting the high-saturation superhero entry “Supergirl” in over 300 locations, alongside National Theatre’s event presentation “Les Liaisons Dangereuses – NT Live 2026.”
On Friday, June 26, wide circuit choices expand with a large-scale launch of over 300 screens for Paramount’s “Jackass: Best and Last,” alongside Altitude’s star-studded drama “A Private Life” from director Rebecca Złotowski, starring Jodie Foster and Daniel Auteuil, which hits more than 100 locations. True Brit Entertainment will also launch the British drama “500 Miles,” while Picturehouse Entertainment brings Anders Thomas Jensen’s comedy-drama “The Last Viking,” starring Mads Mikkelsen and Nikolaj Lie Kaas, to more than 25 screens.
Specialized and independent alternatives arriving on Friday include Sophy Romvari’s drama “Blue Heron” distributed by Conic in more than 25 locations, John Woo’s classic actioner “A Better Tomorrow (4K Restoration)” in over 25 sites from Arrow, and Mensch Films Limited’s musical documentary “Glastonbury The Movie: 30th Anniversary Cut.”
Limited footprints of under 25 screens feature Callum Burn’s military drama “Landship” from Kaleidoscope Entertainment, and the nature documentary “How To Live On Earth” via Together Films, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch. The weekend slate is completed by Underground Slate’s “The Toymakers Key,” Bakrania Media’s Punjabi comedy sequel “Carry On Jatta 4,” Lionsgate’s martial arts epic “The Furious,” alongside Anime Ltd’s special event presentation “The Ghost In The Shell (TV Preview Event).”
