Will Arnett Reveals “A--hole” Comedian Was Kicked Off His Podcast Within 10 Minutes
Will Arnett’s microphone was on, but he didn’t want to use it.
During a recent conversation about his reticence to engage in “guy s--t"—like burping and farting aloud—with his SmartLess cohosts Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes, the conversation took a playful turn when Bateman unexpectedly issued a question about the Is This Thing On? star’s bathroom habits with ex-wife Amy Poehler.
As for what Bateman asked his Arrested Development brother on the June 22 episode of their podcast, he pondered, "Will, did you ever poo in front of Amy?”
And after the direct remark elicited laughter from Bateman’s friends, Arnett played coy.
“Are you looking for clicks?” a jokingly indignant Arnett—who shares sons Archie and Abel with Poehler, to whom he was married for 13 years—responded. “Are you trying to get something we can click around?”
And though Bateman admitted he forgets people actually listen to their podcast, he doubled down with, “But hang on, you were married to her, had two kids—you guys never went to the bathroom in front of each other?”
Still, Arnett couldn’t get over the line of questioning itself. “I’m sorry,” he responded. “The question is, ‘Did I poo in front of Amy?’ And you’re saying that I don’t have manners?”
The 56-year-old then refuted Hayes’ claim that it was a “good question,” noting, “I refuse to answer that. It’s none of your f--king business.”

It was then that Bateman remembered they had a mystery guest—later revealed to be Amy Adams—listening into their conversation.
“We do,” Arnett said with a laugh, “and she’s going to be outraged by this, by the way.”
Adams, in fact, played into the bit, telling the group after being revealed as the guest, “I’m so glad I entered during this conversation. I’m fine with poop talk, absolutely.”

As for Poehler and Arnett, while the pair don’t often discuss each other publicly, they’ve maintained a friendly relationship over the years. In fact, she’s even been a surprise guest on SmartLess.
And when her podcast Good Hang was nominated against SmartLess at the Golden Globes, Arnett revealed that she celebrated the noms with her him and his friends.
“I mean, Amy texted Sean and me this morning saying, ‘We all got nominated for Golden Globes, let’s party,’” he told Rolling Stone in December. “And then she said, ‘I don’t have Bateman’s number, that’s probably for the best.’”
