ZDNET's Lab Awards series combines the rigorous testing done in our Louisville, Kentucky lab and our decades of hands-on testing expertise. When we tested 10 of the most popular tablets, the one that came out on top for battery life was Apple's iPad Pro M5. During Amazon Prime Day sales this week, the 11-inch model is discounted by $100, from $999 to $899.

In our lab, we tested each tablet's battery life a total of 12 times: three times with maximum brightness/audio, three times with minimum brightness/audio, three times with maximum brightness/audio on Airplane Mode, and three times on minimum brightness/audio on Airplane Mode.
The iPad Pro M5 lasted a little over 15 hours at maximum brightness before needing to be charged, solidifying its rank as the best tablet for power users or as a laptop replacement.
Review: Apple iPad Pro (8th-generation)
Aside from its impressive battery life, Apple included enhanced connectivity features with the C1X and N1 chips on the iPad Pro. The chips give the iPad Pro Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thread, and faster 5G connectivity, all of which translate to faster downloads, a better and more reliable AirDrop experience, and smoother hotspot use.
If you're looking for the best battery life in a tablet on the market today, the iPad Pro M5 is it, and with this Prime Day discount, there's no better time to buy it than right now.
How I rated this deal
Based on ZDNET's deal-rating system, this 10% off deal should only be a 2/5 rating, but since this is a Lab Award winner with the best battery life in a tablet, and a flagship Apple product, I ended up giving it a 3/5 deal rating.
This year, Amazon set its annual Prime Day event a little earlier, bumping it up into June instead of its usual July slot. The Prime Day sales event is officially from June 23-26, but you can expect sales prior to and even after the event.
