MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) will submit its findings on the death of Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) student-athletes Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili to the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday, according to Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said.
“Our investigation is nearly complete. It’s rather conclusive,” Remulla told reporters in Filipino in a chance interview at Camp Crame on Wednesday.
“On Friday, we’re submitting this to the DOJ for case filing. Just wait for our final report on Friday and you will see, we will explain to you what we saw in our investigation.)

Baterbonia and Adili, members of the ADMU men’s basketball team drowned after being swept away by large waves while training in Dipaculao, Aurora earlier this month.
The PNP’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) launched its investigation into the incident, later noting that the probe began looking into possible homicide or hazing cases.
“This investigation has been going on for the last two weeks. We interviewed almost a hundred people. We’ve collected maybe 1,200 pages of testimonies from the participants there and we’re nearly complete,” said Remulla.
“It’s conclusive and the CIDG is very confident with the case build-up and you will see,” he added. /gsg
