The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has inaugurated an Endowment Fund Committee to drive transparency, educational development and socio-economic empowerment across Northern Nigeria.
The committee is chaired by a former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Dikko Abubakar, who is expected to provide strategic leadership and oversee the implementation of the fund’s objectives.
Speaking at the inauguration on Tuesday, the Chairman of ACF, Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu, said the establishment of the committee marked a significant step towards expanding educational opportunities, supporting community development and promoting sustainable growth in the region.
Dalhatu said the endowment fund would serve as a platform for addressing critical developmental challenges facing Northern Nigeria.
He disclosed that the forum launched a N100 billion Endowment Fund during its Silver Jubilee celebration, noting that while N7.8 billion was pledged by donors, only N3.9 billion had so far been redeemed.
According to him, the redeemed funds are safely lodged in an account with Jaiz Bank.
“The money is safe, and we expect the committee not only to embark on meaningful social intervention programmes across the North but also to encourage those who made pledges to redeem them. The good work we do with the available funds will definitely attract more funding,” he said.
The newly established Endowment Fund is expected to mobilise resources for educational programmes, youth empowerment, leadership development and other initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of communities across Northern Nigeria.
