MANILA, Philippines — Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon on Wednesday dismissed claims that a political agenda was included in his recent meeting with Naga City Mayor and former vice president Leni Robredo, saying that he visited the city for work purposes only.
“It’s just work. We have to support all of our mayors, including Mayor Leni. Our mayors have good plans and the national government needs to support them,” Dizon told reporters in an interview in Filipino.

Robredo said that they have requested these projects to the national government.
Among those committed by Dizon are the following: completion of Naga Airport; completion of Almeda-Mabolo Bypass Road; continued work under Oplan Kontra Baha program; and asphalt overlay of General Luna Street and other major roads in Naga City.
“You should see the plans of Mayor Leni in Naga, they’re all good. They need support because Naga can’t do it all alone so we will give all out support not just to Naga, but in Manila, Quezon City, Pasig, Davao, and everywhere,” Dizon added.

This is not the first time that Dizon has been politically associated with Robredo.
In February, Dizon dismissed the possibility of being paired with the mayor for a president-vice president tandem in the 2028 elections.

The 2028 scenario surfaced after Dizon was seen together with Robredo and President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during the launch of Oplan Kontra Baha in Naga City last February.
Marcos also said then that his visit to Naga City that time had no political agenda. /gsg
