The Lagos State Police Command has intensified investigations into the delivery of a suspicious parcel containing live ammunition to the residence of the Managing Director of First Bank in Lagos.
Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, disclosed that the incident was reported on May 7, 2026, after the bank executive discovered two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition concealed inside a parcel delivered to his home.
According to him, the package was initially received by the executive’s security guard before being handed over to him.
“Upon opening the parcel, the Managing Director reportedly found the ammunition, prompting him to alert security authorities,” he said.
Speaking during a media briefing, Fatai described the development as a serious security concern and assured that detectives were working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the delivery.
He said detectives immediately commenced inquiries to determine the origin of the parcel, identify those responsible, and establish whether the incident was intended as a threat or linked to any criminal activity.
“The Managing Director reported the matter to the police after discovering two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition in a parcel collected on his behalf. The case remains under investigation, and we are treating it with the seriousness it deserves,” he said.
Fatai disclosed that no arrests had been made in connection with the case.
However, he noted that detectives were pursuing several leads, including information provided by the complainant, who reportedly identified individuals he believes may have knowledge of or involvement in the incident.
The State Commissioner of Police added that forensic and intelligence-led investigations were ongoing to uncover those behind the delivery and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.
