
ILOILO CITY — Residents in Western Visayas can expect generally cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms over the next five days as the southwest monsoon or habagat continues to influence weather conditions across the region, according to the latest five-day regional outlook issued by the state weather bureau in the Visayas on Wednesday.
The forecast, released at 9 a.m. on June 24, showed that Iloilo, Guimaras, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, and Negros Occidental will experience temperatures ranging from 25 to 33 degrees Celsius through June 28, with occasional rains and thunderstorms expected, particularly during the afternoon and evening.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said moderate to strong southwest winds will prevail over most parts of Western Visayas on Wednesday, gradually weakening to light to moderate winds from Thursday onward.

Coastal waters surrounding Iloilo, Guimaras, Aklan, and Antique are expected to be moderate to rough on Wednesday due to stronger monsoon winds, prompting caution among small fishing vessels and sea travelers.
Weather conditions are forecast to improve slightly from Thursday to Sunday, with coastal waters becoming slight to moderate in most areas. However, isolated rain showers and thunderstorms remain likely as the southwest monsoon continues to affect the Visayas.
Among Western Visayas provinces, Iloilo is expected to record temperatures between 26 and 33 degrees Celsius throughout the forecast period. Similar temperature ranges are expected in Guimaras, Aklan, and Antique, while Capiz may experience slightly cooler minimum temperatures of 25 degrees Celsius.
Negros Occidental is forecast to have temperatures ranging from 26 to 32 degrees Celsius.

The weather agency advised the public to remain vigilant against possible flash floods and landslides during periods of heavy rainfall, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas. Residents were also urged to monitor official weather advisories as localized thunderstorms may develop despite generally fair conditions during the day.

Pagasa noted that while no tropical cyclone is expected to affect Western Visayas during the five-day forecast period, the southwest monsoon will continue to bring cloudy skies, intermittent rains, and occasional thunderstorms across the region.
Fisherfolk and operators of small sea vessels were likewise advised to exercise caution, particularly on Wednesday when sea conditions are expected to be rougher due to stronger monsoon winds. /coa
