
MANILA, Philippines — A suspected drug courier was arrested, and P6.8 million worth of suspected shabu (crystal meth) was confiscated in Manila on Wednesday morning, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said.
The suspect, identified only as a 36-year-old male, was intercepted by the police in a buy-bust operation along Rizal Avenue near Bustos Street in Barangay 303, according to the NCRPO in a statement.

The suspect was “allegedly attempting to distribute a substantial volume of illegal drugs intended for circulation within Metro Manila,” the police said.

Operatives recovered a vacuum-sealed plastic sachet containing a kilogram of suspected shabu and another heat-sealed sachet containing five grams of suspected shabu, the NCRPO noted.
The suspect was taken into police custody, awaiting charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Meanwhile, the confiscated suspected drugs will undergo laboratory testing at the Manila Police District Forensic Unit. /mcm
