A 25-year-old Italian man has been arrested following a police operation targeting an alleged drug trafficking network.
The arrest came after ongoing investigations and surveillance by police officers monitoring suspected criminal activity linked to drug trafficking.
During surveillance carried out yesterday evening, officers allegedly observed the suspect meeting another individual in the Msida waterfront area.
Shortly afterwards, police intercepted the man while he was driving a Skoda and placed him under arrest.
A subsequent search led to the discovery of a package containing a pink substance suspected to be pink cocaine.
Further searches at the suspect’s residence in Swieqi allegedly uncovered additional quantities of the same substance, cannabis and several items believed to be linked to drug trafficking activities.
The man is currently being held at the Police lock-up in Floriana and is expected to be arraigned in court today at around noon before Magistrate Dr Jean Paul Grech.
Police investigations remain ongoing.
