EXCLUSIVE: Emmy nominee Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad) and Star Trek and Foundation actor Alexander Siddig are among cast in the indie feature Words From The Oven, a family drama currently filming in Pennsylvania.
Based on a true story, the film “follows a Lebanese immigrant family navigating economic hardship and personal tragedy in rural America during the mid-20th century, where food serves as a powerful expression of family, heritage, and resilience. The story centers on a young man forced to shoulder extraordinary responsibility after a devastating family loss. As he takes over the family farm, he must balance the weight of obligation with the challenge of discovering dreams of his own.”
Erdem Erdal Ülker, Dalia Rooni, John Schaub and Lindsay Shiner also star.
Josie Hull (Cookbook For Southern Housewives) has scripted and is directing the film, on which she also serves as producer alongside Christopher Rob Bowen and William Scott Whitfield under Picturewerk. Bowen is also acting in the film. Frank Shiner is exec producer. Olivier Sarbil, who recently directed Darren Aronofsky-produced feature Viktor, is DoP.
“At its heart, this is a story about responsibility, sacrifice, and the courage to pursue your own dreams while carrying the weight of those who came before you,” said Hull. “Food and shared meals became our lens into that journey- how families hold onto home and express love across generations.”
Banks is represented by Innovative Artists and Lovett Management. Siddig is represented by Markham, Froggatt & Irwin and Berwick & Kovacik. Rooni is represented by Realm Talent and Kolli Management.
