Rockstar Games has finally revealed the price for “Grand Theft Auto VI” — and the fact the game will be a “single-player experience” at launch — just ahead of pre-orders opening for the eagerly anticipated title.
The standard edition of “GTA 6” will be priced at $79.99 while the “ultimate” version will run players $99.99, per the Take-Two Interactive-owned Rockstar Games. That pricier edition “amplifies this experience with an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects” of the game’s narrative.
When revealing the pricing Wednesday, Rockstar did not mention a multiplayer or online feature for “GTA 6” at launch, noting only that the game consists of “a single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet.”
“GTA 6” will be released Nov. 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Pre-orders will begin Thursday, June 25 at midnight local time through the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store, and global retailers and storefronts.
Customers who pre-order digital versions of “GTA 6” will be able to begin pre-loading Nov. 12. The physical editions of the game, which will include a download code inside the box, will be made available for retail beginning Nov. 12 to support pre-loading what’s expected to be a very large file of a game.
Here’s the official description for “GTA 6”: “Vice City, USA. Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”
The game is not yet rated.
Rockstar says all pre-orders and purchases made before Nov. 20 will come with the “Vintage Vice City Pack,” a collection of items that “flash back to when the neon burned brightest,” as well as a free month of GTA+ for digital pre-orders, which Rockstar says will be the “best way to get the most out of the ever-evolving world of GTA Online and instantly redeemable.”
