Alex Eala, Venus Williams win debut as partners at Bad Homburg Open

MANILA, Philippines–Alex Eala and Venus Williams enjoyed a successful debut as a pair, advancing to the quarterfinals of the Bad Homburg Open doubles tournament. Eala and Williams dispatched the American-Australian tandem of Catherine Harrison and Alexandra Osborne, 6-3, 6-4, in the Round of 16 late Wednesday in front of a packed crowd. The Filipino-American duo got off to a flying start, building a 4-0 lead in the first set, but had to overcome a challenge from Harrison and Osborne in the second.
