Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock Reunite in ‘Practical Magic 2’ First Look
Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock are back brewing up midnight margaritas—and trouble.
Nearly 30 years after starring in Practical Magic, the costars reunited for the forthcoming sequel, with the trailer conjuring up a closer look into how the family’s 300-year curse is threatening a new generation of Owens women.
But as Stockard Channing’s Aunt Frances put it in the film’s official trailer released June 24, “No magic is stronger than sisterhood.”
“Cast by fate, tested but time,” she added, “and never broken.”
And that sentiment couldn’t be truer of Bullock and Kidman’s onscreen bond as sisters Sally Owens and Gillian Owens. (Dianne Wiest joins Channing, Bullock and Kidman as reprising her role as Aunt Jet.)
The trailer sees the duo tackling a new life chapter as Sally’s daughters Kylie (Joey King) and Antonia (Maisie Williams) experience the curse dooming any man who falls in love with an Owens woman first-hand.
Case in point: Kylie’s boyfriend (Xolo Maridueña) is hit by a car while bicycling with a bouquet of flowers in-hand—an accident reminiscent to the one that claimed the life of her dad Michael (Mark Feuerstein) in the 1998 movie.
Though Kylie heard whisperings growing up of her family’s witchy tendencies, she’s forced to confront the suspicions head-first after the accident.
“Is this real?” Kylie questions. “Is he gonna die?”
Deciding it’s time for her daughter to know the truth, Sally confirms, “It’s true. We’re witches and the curse is real.”
Since Kylie is determined to reverse the curse by any means necessary, Sally and Gillian must work together again to keep her away from the darkness that looms beneath every spell.
“My blood, your blood,” Gillian says, before Sally chimes in, “Our blood.”
“When you have someone who knows who you were and who you will always be,” Sally continues, “there is no deeper tie, no stronger bond.”

Though fans will have to wait and see if the Owens women can reverse the curse for good, one aspect of the film—which hits theaters September 11—that is already evident is how strong Sally and Gillian’s bond has remained over the years.
“I want you to know, if anything happens to me, Gillian, it’s you,” Sally says in one scene. “You are my person.”
And that sentiment also rings true for Bullock IRL.
As The Blind Side star noted of working with Kidman again at CinemaCon 2026, it “felt like we came back to a home that we once lived in.”
