MOSCOW, June 25. /TASS/. Thailand is interested in buying energy resources from Russia as the largest and most reliable supplier of energy resources to third countries, Executive Director of the Russian-Thai Business Council Vladimir Kovalyov told TASS after the Russia-ASEAN summit.
"We have all heard about our Thai colleagues’ interest in purchasing energy resources from Russia. This issue remains on the agenda because Russia is the largest and most reliable supplier of energy resources to third-country markets. But here, once again, we need to reach a consensus both at the political level and at the level of individual companies," he said. "And we, as a business council, are of course ready to support these projects and facilitate their successful implementation."
According to Kovalyov, Russia and Thailand are discussing issues of developing cooperation in the areas of heavy industry and nuclear energy. "I would like to say that during our forum that will be held in late October - early November, we will discuss one of the key topics - cooperation in the area of basic industries, namely metallurgy and, of course, energy," he said. "There is demand for this now. The Novostal-M company, which I also represent along with the Russian-Thai Business Council, is successfully operating on the Thai market."
Russia, in his words, continues to supply steel products to Thailand, which remains "not only a market for Russian products, but also a hub for operations across all of Southeast Asia."
"We know about the positive track record of the Rosatom State Corporation. A Rosatom representative office has been opened in Bangkok, and our colleagues are discussing projects in a wide variety of fields: these include nuclear medicine, cooperation on nuclear energy - Rosatom’s core area of work, and in a number of other areas," he added.
