
MANILA, Philippines — Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Thursday said the government should permanently ban “violent” video games following the fatal shooting at a Tacloban City school.
“Games espousing violence like GoreBox should be permanently banned from the Philippines. I believe that it desensitizes young people to the elements of death, violence, and murder,” Remulla said in a press briefing in Camp Crame.

“I believe that the government, that Congress should study the matter on how to stop this,” he added, speaking partly in Filipino.

The Tacloban incident involved two suspects, aged 14 and 15, who opened fire at the San Jose National High School campus on Monday morning, killing three students and wounding at least 20 others.
The suspects had allegedly been influenced by GoreBox, according to the police.
Following the gun attack, GoreBox was temporarily banned in the country by the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center. /gsg /atm
