LEGAZPI CITY, Albay — Bishop Joel Z. Baylon of the Diocese of Legazpi has called on the faithful to support the White Ribbon Movement, which is a faith-based, nonpartisan initiative that seeks to promote truth, justice, and national renewal.
In a pastoral appeal issued on Wednesday, Baylon said the diocese was joining the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines’ call for Catholics to take part in the movement through prayer and public witness.
The bishop encouraged parishioners to attend Sunday Mass on June 28 wearing white clothing or a white ribbon as a symbol of hope and commitment to the country’s renewal.

“As a simple expression of our hope for our country, I encourage everyone to wear white when attending Mass or to wear a white ribbon,” Baylon said.
He also urged families, schools, offices, businesses, institutions, and parishes to display white ribbons as a visible sign of support for the campaign.
Baylon stressed that the initiative should go beyond a one-day observance and become a way of life for Christians.
“As followers of Christ, let us continue to seek the truth, reject misinformation, resist every form of corruption, and exercise prudent discernment in all that we hear, share, and do,” he said.

The bishop also called on the faithful to uphold honesty and integrity in their personal lives while praying that public officials would faithfully carry out their responsibilities for the common good.
Baylon linked the appeal to the Diocese of Legazpi’s Diamond Jubilee celebration, saying the milestone should inspire a renewed commitment to building a society marked by justice, compassion, and hope./coa
