Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government outlined three national strategic pillars of immigration at the 29th ASEAN Directors-General of Immigration Departments and Heads of Consular Affairs Division of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (DGICM) in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko stated in a statement here on Thursday that the pillars are strengthening border inspections, supervision of foreign nationals, and integration of digital services.
"Strengthening border inspections, supervision of foreign nationals, and integration of digital services are the three pillars supporting Indonesia's immigration system," Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko said.
In the border security sector, the immigration authority optimizes risk-based analysis through the Passenger Analysis Unit (PAU) at Immigration Inspection Points (TPI) and the Immigration Traffic Monitoring Center (ITMC) at the central level.
He highlighted the effectiveness of the Foreigner Reporting Application (APOA), integrated with the National Police, which contributed to the arrest of 210 foreign nationals linked to online investment fraud cases in Batam in early May 2026.
"APOA serves as an effort to prevent the misuse of stay permits," he remarked.
The DGICM forum took place over three days from June 23-25, 2026. Marantoko also attended a bilateral meeting with Australia's Department of Home Affairs (DHA).
In that meeting, Marantoko proposed that procedures for issuing the Working Holiday Visa for Indonesian citizens be managed proportionally through a ballot system in handling the high number of applicants from Indonesia.
At the forum, Indonesia was appointed as Voluntary Lead Shepherd (VLS) for the issue of People Smuggling in the implementation of the DGICM Plan of Action (PoA).
Furthermore, Marantoko stated that transnational crime challenges require integrated solutions.
"We encourage real commitment from all ASEAN members to strengthen intelligence information exchange and technology alignment for a safer and more resilient region," Marantoko concluded.
