Kathmandu. Radiant College in Tilottama, Rupandehi, has launched a Bachelor's in Information Technology (BIT) program under Kathmandu University (KU), opening admissions from the current academic session after receiving approval to operate the course.
According to Principal Ananta Pandey, the college had previously been offering the B.Tech Ed IT program and has now expanded its academic offerings by introducing BIT. A total of 30 seats have been allocated for the new program, with 10 percent reserved for full scholarships in accordance with Kathmandu University regulations.
Students who have completed Grade 12 in the science stream or an equivalent qualification are eligible to apply for the BIT program. Meanwhile, students from any academic stream can enroll in B.Tech Ed IT. Admission to both programs requires participation in Kathmandu University's entrance examination.
The entrance examination center has been designated at Manigram, Rupandehi.
Established in 2024, Radiant College says it aims to combine academic education with practical industry skills and work experience.
Principal Pandey claims that students will have the equivalent of three years of industry experience by the time they complete their undergraduate studies.
To achieve this, the college conducts an additional two-hour industry-focused session every day from the first year itself. These classes are taught by professionals with real-world industry experience and do not charge additional fees.
“The college has partnered with more than 25 industries in Nepal, India, and Dubai. Through these partnerships, students receive training opportunities as well as paid internships,” Pandey said.
According to the college, students can begin participating in remote paid internships with companies in Nepal and abroad starting from their second year of study. Pandey said 25 students are currently engaged in such opportunities.
“If a student completes a four-year degree but still cannot work professionally, then the education has failed its purpose,” he said. “Companies are not training centers. Educational institutions themselves must prepare students with the skills and experience required by industry.”
Pandey added that students pay only the standard four-year tuition fee prescribed under Kathmandu University guidelines, with no additional charges for the extra classes.
He said Radiant College was established to bridge the gap between industry expectations and graduates' skill levels.
