Health Minister Ian Borg has continued a series of visits to healthcare institutions across Malta and Gozo as part of his first commitments since taking on the health portfolio.
Borg visited Mater Dei Hospital, Karen Grech Hospital, the Rabat Health Centre and Gozo General Hospital, where he met healthcare professionals, support staff and patients to better understand the challenges facing the sector.
The visits also gave him the opportunity to observe ongoing services and investments while identifying areas where further improvements and regeneration are needed.
“Before taking important decisions about the future of healthcare, we must listen to those who provide the service every day, as well as to the patients themselves,” Borg said.
He praised the dedication and professionalism of healthcare workers, saying their commitment gives him confidence that Malta’s health system can continue improving while keeping patients at the centre of every decision.
During his visit to Gozo General Hospital, Borg also stressed the importance of continuing to expand healthcare services on the island so that Gozitans can access modern, high-quality care closer to home.
The Deputy Prime Minister said he will continue visiting healthcare institutions in the coming weeks as the government pushes forward with further investments, initiatives and projects aimed at strengthening Malta’s healthcare system.
