Jakarta (ANTARA) - Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has confirmed that the contract for importing crude oil from Russia has been prepared and is ready for further development.
“I will try to check it technically, but what I know is that the contract has already been carried out by Lemigas (Research and Development Center for Oil and Gas Technology) and the BLU (Public Service Agency) under the ESDM Ministry,” Lahadalia said when met here on Thursday.
Regarding the volume of crude oil to be imported from Russia, he said there is potential for further development.
“As for the (import) volume, it can develop even more, but I will try to look at the contract again,” he said.
He continued, "We already have a G2G (government-to-government) deal between President Putin and President Prabowo, and I have also communicated with the Russian Energy Minister."
Previously, the ESDM Ministry stated that Indonesia would continue to import crude oil from Russia, even though the shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz has been reopened amid de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
It is part of the commitment to import 150 million barrels of oil from Russia, which will be carried out gradually until the end of 2026, as a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Russia last April.
On the other hand, Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergey Tolchenov said the Indonesian Government has not yet submitted specific requests regarding oil purchases and cooperation on the development of nuclear power plants (PLTN) with his country.
Tolchenov on Tuesday (June 23) said his side would need more specific information from the Indonesian government and companies, such as what type of oil is needed, how much oil, which port will be used, and how payment will be made.
