
MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm Higos entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Thursday afternoon and was given the local name “Gardo,” the state weather bureau said.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Gardo entered PAR around 3 p.m.
Gardo was last recorded carrying maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 105 kph, while moving northwestward at 45 kph.

This weather disturbance entered PAR while Severe Tropical Storm Francisco (international name: Mekkhala) is still being monitored within the country’s area of responsibility.

However, Pagasa in previous forecasts noted that unlike Francisco, Gardo is expected to quickly exit PAR around Friday morning or afternoon.
Due to this, Gardo is not expected to directly affect the country’s weather as it is forecast to remain far from the Philippine landmass throughout its forecast period. /das
