MANILA, Philippines — The presentation of evidence in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte could take 92 trial days, based on projections made by both the prosecution and defense teams.
For the prosecution team, their projection was that they could finish the presentation in 62 trial days while it would take 30 trial days for the defense team, Senate Secretary and Impeachment Clerk of Court Renato Bantug said.
“What the parties committed on record is that the prosecution will take around 62 trial days and the defense 30 trial days,” Bantug said in an interview in the Senate on Thursday.

“That’s their presentation period, that’s their projection of the trial days that they need in order to complete the presentation of evidence,” he added.
To speed up the proceedings, a pre-trial conference was conducted, which started on June 18 and could be finished this Thursday.
Meanwhile, the trial proper is scheduled to start on July 6.
According to Bantug, the impeachment trial will be conducted every Monday through Wednesday. /mr
