Residents and visitors to Faro will once again be able to take part in free outdoor fitness sessions this summer as the municipality launches the 2026 edition of its Verão Ativo (Active Summer) programme.
Running from July 6 to August 28, the initiative will offer a range of sport, leisure and wellbeing activities at the multi-sports court (Polidesportivo) at Praia de Faro, with the aim of encouraging people to stay active during the summer months.
The programme includes regular Pilates, fitness and senior activity sessions, alongside weekend events such as guided walks and surprise classes led by local gyms.
Pilates classes will take place every Monday and Friday at 9am, while fitness sessions are scheduled for 6.30pm on the same days. On Wednesdays, senior-focused activities will be held at 9am, followed by another evening fitness class.
Additional activities will take place at weekends, with guest gyms hosting special sessions on Saturdays and guided Faro a Andar no Verão walks taking place every Sunday at 9.30am.
The programme is organised by Faro Municipal Council’s Sports and Youth Promotion Division in partnership with Know-How, Judo Clube de Faro, Nova Meta and SIZE Fitness Boutique.
Participation is free of charge and open to everyone. People can register at the venue on the day of the activity or in advance through the Praia de Faro Nautical Centre by telephone or email (289 870 898, 289 870 056 or [email protected]).
According to the municipality, the initiative aims to encourage regular physical activity, promote healthy lifestyles and make greater use of public spaces at Praia de Faro during the summer season.
A detailed calendar of activities will be published on the municipality’s website and social media channels.
