MANILA, Philippines–Alex Eala and Venus Williams bowed out in the quarterfinals of the Bad Homburg Open doubles event, losing to Olivia Nicholls and Tereza Mihalíková, 6-3, 6-2 on Thursday. After a winning debut as partners, Eala and Williams ran into a tougher test in the second-seeded tandem of Nicholls and Mihalíková, who recently captured the Queen’s Club doubles title.
