“This event generated a plume that rose approximately 200 meters above the crater before drifting northeast,” said Phivolcs.
According to Phivolcs, this activity marks Mayon Volcano’s 171st consecutive day of being on an effusive eruption, producing incandescent lava flows, pyroclastic density currents (PDCs), locally known as “uson”, and frequent rockfalls.
This activity came after two lava effusions were recorded on Wednesday evening, as Mayon entered its 170th day of effusive eruption.

Alert Level 3, or high-level unrest, remains raised over the volcano, meaning entry into the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone is strictly prohibited.
Under this alert level, civil aviation authorities are also advised to prohibit pilots from flying close to the volcano’s summit, as ash from any sudden eruption can be hazardous to aircraft. /mcm /mr
