Semarang (ANTARA) - More than 100 kings, sultans, and customary leaders from Indonesia and abroad are scheduled to attend the 7th Nusantara Customary and Cultural Festival in Salatiga, Central Java, from July 24 to 28, 2026.
Chairman of the organizing committee of the 7th Nusantara Customary and Cultural Festival, Dance Ishak Palit, said in Semarang on Thursday that around 37 kings from abroad and nearly 80 kings from various regions in Indonesia have confirmed their attendance.
He explained that the festival is a collaboration between the Salatiga City Government and Masyarakat Adat Nusantara (Matra).
Matra is an organization that brings together 267 kingdoms and sultanates in Indonesia and maintains networks with kingdoms in several countries.
During the five-day event, the festival will feature several agendas, including a royal banquet and the first Keraton Princess Festival.
At the peak of the festival, kings, sultans, and customary leaders will sign the Salatiga Charter, a joint declaration to strengthen the role of kingdoms and palaces in preserving the nation’s customary and cultural values.
“The resilience of the nation’s customs and culture lies in the kingdoms and palaces. Therefore, we are preparing the Salatiga Charter, which will be signed by all kingdoms together with government representatives,” he said during a meeting with Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi to report on the event.
Dance, who also serves as Speaker of the Salatiga City Regional Legislative Council (DPRD), added that the Nusantara Customary and Cultural Festival is now in its seventh edition.
Previous editions of the event have been held in several regions, including Borobudur in Central Java, Bali, and Jambi.
Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi welcomed and supported the festival and is scheduled to attend a series of events on July 25, 2026.
