MOSCOW, June 25. /TASS/. Azad Safarov, a journalist working for Sky News, has recalled a 2025 incident during which a service member of Ukraine’s Skala assault regiment fired multiple shots at their parked car with a female driver behind the wheel.
In his words, the incident occurred in March 2025, when the TV crew was recording footage near the frontline. A decision was made to leave one of the channel’s cars and its driver at a command post.
"We agreed that the car would be hidden, and the driver allowed to stay in a safe place at the command post," he wrote on his page on Facebook (banned in Russia, owned by Meta, which has been designated as extremist in Russia). "Later, it turned out that she was not allowed to stay at the command post and was told to remain in the car. At approximately 11:30 p.m. someone approached the car from the driver’s side and fired multiple shots at the car from point-blank range.
The journalist added that the woman was not harmed, because the vehicle was armored. However, 12 bullet holes were later discovered on it. Very soon, another service member approached and started to collect shell casings nearby. He ordered the woman to leave, "or else."
"I remained silent on the matter for more than a year, because I thought that maybe it was just an isolated case. Sky News could have made this incident an international scandal, but chose not to," the journalist added.
