
MANILA, Philippines — A man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly assaulting passengers aboard a jeepney in Muntinlupa City, the police said.
The incident occurred in the Filinvest area in Barangay Alabang, according to the Muntinlupa City Police Station in a statement. It did not say exactly when and where it took place.
A video of the incident circulating online showed the suspect, who did not have a shirt on, punching and kicking at passengers, who in turn fought back.

“Because of the presence of Filinvest marshals deployed at every corner of the area, the suspect was immediately intercepted and prevented from escaping right after the incident,” Muntinlupa police said.
It only identified the suspect as “Rugby Boy.”
In a separate statement, the Southern Police District (SPD) named him with the alias “Vincent.”

“The injured passengers were immediately assisted by responding personnel and are now reported to be in stable condition and recovering well,” the SPD said.
It further noted that Vincent will be charged with physical injuries before the city prosecutor.

For his part, in response to the incident, in a social media post, Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon said he had ordered the local police to intensify their security operations in the area. /cb
