New traffic signs and road markings installed in Mġarr have been vandalised and stolen less than 24 hours after they were put in place.
In a statement, Mġarr Local Council strongly condemned the incidents, revealing that the signs had only been installed by Infrastructure Malta on Wednesday before being targeted overnight.
Photos shared by the council show newly painted 30km/h speed limit markings covered in black paint, while several traffic signs were removed entirely.
The council confirmed it has filed a police report and is urging anyone with information to come forward, assuring residents that any reports can be made anonymously.
The vandalism comes shortly after the council introduced the second phase of its traffic management plan, with several streets in the locality recently converted into one-way roads.
