EXCLUSIVE: Prime Video‘s We Were Liars has added 8 new actors to its recurring cast: Riley Voelkel, Madeleine Arthur, Jaelynn Thora Brooks, Layla Douglas, Callan Potter, Aidan Shaw, Shaun Sipos, and Brendon Tremblay.
Additionally, Emerson MacNeil will return in the recurring role of Bonnie, Manaia Wall as Liberty, Andrew Moodie as Thatcher, Brady Doulis as Will, Charlie Carrick as Sam, and Dylan Bruce as Brody Sheffield.
Based on E. Lockhart’s YA novel of the same name, We Were Liars is a tragic love story and an amnesia thriller set on a privately owned island off the coast of Massachusetts. It centers on the wealthy, seemingly perfect Sinclair family, who spend every summer on their private island.
In Season 2, In an effort to confront her truth, Cadence (Emily Alyn Lind) returns to Beechwood. As she digs deeper into family secrets, she learns about the Sinclair Sisters’ summer of 1999 — a summer rife with first love, rivalry, and even murder. In flashbacks, we see Carrie (Mamie Gummer), Penny (Caitlin FitzGerald), and Bess (Candice King) navigate their own teenage summer, as they come to terms with their past in the present day.
A list of the new cast members and who they will play can be found below.
Voelkel as Adult Yardley, who is seen in the present day. After years of exile, the elegant, magnetic Sinclair cousin has returned to Beechwood — and this time, she’s here to raise hell.
Arthur as Young Yardley, the Sinclair sisters’ magnetic, worldly, and elegant-beyond-her-years cousin. Yardley has always brought the magic to Beechwood Island — but this year, she brought boys.
Brooks as Erin Riegert, a school friend, who was invited to visit the Sinclairs for the summer. Erin is deeply empathetic and highly perceptive — two qualities that don’t necessarily serve her well on Beechwood Island.
Dougles as Rosemary, the youngest Sinclair, Rosemary is curious, whimsical, and sassy. She spends her summers playing mermaids with her sisters—but this year, she’s experiencing her first deep pangs of loneliness as the older girls turn their attention away from her and toward the crop of boys visiting the island.
Potter as Gideon, the most sought-after tennis coach on the island. Gideon is a former Ivy League golden boy who fits right in with the Martha’s Vineyard elite. The married women swoon, their husbands invite him to their poker tables, and no one suspects his more sinister intentions.
Shaw as George Bryce-Amory, who hails from a well-heeled Texas oil family. George is big-hearted, loyal as a golden retriever, and completely devoted to Yardley. What he lacks in New England yacht club polish, he offers in testosterone, entitlement, and the ability to shotgun a beer.
Sipos as Dean, the life of the party, confident bordering on cocky. Harris’ brother Dean is not only heir to generational wealth, but an influential Democrat with an eye on a senate seat—though he struggles to keep his skeletons from tumbling out of their closets.
Tremblay as Jeremy “Major” Majorino, a New Yorker with open-minded “hippie parents.” Jeremy is observant, jovial, and finds the Sinclairs’ world fascinating. He’s thrilled to be along for the ride on his buddy’s impromptu summer vacation — for more reasons than one.
We Were Liars Season Two is written and executive produced by co-showrunners Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries, Legacies) and Carina Adly MacKenzie (Roswell, New Mexico, The Originals). Also executive producing are Emily Cummins (The Endgame, Vampire Academy) for My So-Called Company, Brett Matthews (Legacies), Marguerite MacIntyre (Vampire Academy) and the novel’s author, E.
