
MANILA, Philippines — The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) said a ceiling panel collapsed at Bicol International Airport Terminal on Thursday afternoon.
According to Caap in a statement, it was the ceiling panel at the Well-Wishers area of the airport that detached and fell in front of a restaurant at approximately 5:50 p.m.
“The affected area was immediately secured and access was restricted as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the traveling public and airport personnel,” said Caap.

Thankfully no injuries were reported after the ceiling collapse.

Meanwhile, Caap assured the public that airport engineering teams have already conducted a thorough structural assessment, with repair and restoration works to commence upon completion of safety clearance procedures.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and concern this incident may have caused. We assure the public that immediate preventive measures are already being undertaken to address the issue and to ensure that similar incidents do not happen again,” Caap Director General Retired Lt. Gen. Raul del Rosario said.
CAAP then reiterated its commitment to passenger safety and operational integrity. /cb
