ST. PETERSBURG, June 25. /TASS/. More than 10,000 criminal cases have been initiated against 2,500 representatives of the Ukrainian leadership and foreign mercenaries since 2014, Alexander Fyodorov, adviser to the head of Russia’s Investigative Committee, said during the SPIEF.
"The investigation of war crimes, genocide and the rehabilitation of Nazism is of particular historical and moral importance. Since 2014, the Investigative Committee has initiated more than 10,000 criminal cases against almost 2,500 representatives of the Ukrainian leadership, members of radical associations, Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and foreign mercenaries," he said.
According to him, the investigation of more than 1,000 criminal cases against 1,400 military personnel, neo-Nazis and foreign mercenaries involved in hostilities on the side of Ukraine was completed.
"A criminal case on genocide of the Donbass population was sent to court on charges against 41 representatives of the top political and military leadership of the Kiev regime," he said.
Fyodorov also added that as a result of Ukrainian punitive operations since 2014, almost 5,000 civilians have died, and more than 2.3 million civilians have been forced to leave the DPR. According to Fyodorov, taking into account the totality of the collected evidence, these actions are qualified as genocide.
