
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police – National Capital Region Police Office (PNP-NCRPO) will deploy 9,553 police officers across Metro Manila for the “White Ribbon March” on Sunday, June 28.
“There is no threat. This is our proactive deployment,” NCRPO spokesperson Maj. Hazel Asilo said in a text message sent to reporters.

The White Ribbon March will be staged by several religious and civil society groups at the Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (Edsa) People Power Monument to call for government accountability and reforms.

Bishop Efraim Tendero previously said the march will urge the government to hold erring officials accountable, to pass a genuine anti-dynasty bill and to reform the electoral process.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. previously said the NCRPO was tasked to assess security threats around the Edsa People Power Monument and nearby critical infrastructure ahead of the rally this weekend. /gsg
