The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State has arrested a suspected member of an alleged inter-state robbery syndicate.
The suspect, identified as Abdulrasheed Kadri, popularly known as “Soldier,” was arrested during an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Command’s Tracking Unit following investigations into a series of burglary and robbery incidents.
The operation came after repeated complaints from residents and business owners whose homes, shops and other premises were allegedly broken into, with valuables stolen.
The command said information obtained from the suspect led operatives to a warehouse in Ibadan believed to have been used to keep property allegedly stolen from victims in different parts of the country.
Among the items recovered during the operation were a vehicle and other valuables suspected to be proceeds of criminal activities.
The exhibits have since been taken into custody for documentation and identification.
Investigators believe the syndicate operated across state boundaries, allegedly targeting residential and commercial premises before moving stolen items to designated locations for storage and disposal.
The state commandant of the NSCDC, Abbas Nda Mohammed, described the operation as a major breakthrough in the agency’s efforts to tackle organised crime and improve public safety.
He disclosed that one suspect is currently in custody and assisting investigators, while efforts have been intensified to apprehend other members of the alleged syndicate who remain at large
