Housewife seeks divorce over alleged neglect

A housewife, Hauwa Usman has prayed an Upper Area Court in Mararaba, near Abuja to dissolve her marriage to husband, Habib Adamu, on grounds of neglect.

Usman also asked the court to grant her custody of their child.

She said that Adamu married her under the Sharia Islamic law.

“I have not known peace in my marriage. My husband keeps late nights. He does not provide for the family.

“He has also failed in performing his duties as my husband,” she said.

She told the court that she had been responsible for the well-being of their child for five years now. (NAN)

In response to the allegations, Adamu pleaded guilty to the petitioner’s allegation.

The Judge, Mohammed Shomo , gave the couple two weeks to settle the matter amicably or come back for the dissolution of the marriage.

He adjourned the case until July 8 for feedback.(NAN)
