
MANILA, Philippines — While economic development is often associated with more liberal social values, data on attitudes toward homosexuality across Asia paint a more complex picture, according to a data scientist. Dr. Alicor Panao, an associate professor at the University of the Philippines, said that if economic growth naturally led to more liberal social attitudes, Asian countries would be expected to show a predictable increase in acceptance of homosexuality.
