The two trade verses about romance troubles and their self-sabotaging habits
June 26, 2026
After teasing a studio collaboration together several months ago, Steve Lacy has finally shared the new song he recorded with SZA. “Is It Cool?” is a back-and-forth track between the two singers where they delve into their struggles with romance and tendencies to self-sabotage. Give it a listen below.
SZA first teased the existence of a collaboration in March with i-D, telling the magazine that her and Lacy “made a random little project together.” She said it’s part of a recent streak where she makes songs that “feel good and don’t say too much.”
“Is It Cool?” appears on Lacy’s upcoming album, Oh Yeah?—out July 17 via RCA—alongside the singles “The Feeling” and “Nice Shoes.” With today’s news, he’s also unveiled the full tracklist, which boasts collaborations with Erykah Badu and Cecile Believe as well. It follows his Grammy-winning 2022 full-length Gemini Rights.
