
A robbery syndicate that plies its evil trade in Suleja, Niger State and transacts the proceeds of the crime in Abuja, Kaduna and Katsina states have been arrested.
The spokesman of the Niger State Police Command Wasiu Abiodun made this known in a statement wherein he disclosed that eight suspects including two girls were already arrested while others are on the run.
Abiodun said a distress call was received from the Rafin-Chinaka area of Maje in Niger State and a police patrol team attached to the Maje Police Div was detailed to the scene where the team discovered that a victim was robbed of a Jincheng motorcycle.
The robbers, while attempting to make their escape encountered the patrol team which also sighted them and gave a hot pursuit. The police eventually caught one of the suspects James Bitrus with the motorcycle.
The apprehended suspect gave the names of three other suspects who are also members of a syndicate that specialised in robbing victims of motorcycles and other valuables within Suleja, Kwamba and environs.
Following the suspect’s confession, eight other suspects were arrested in connection with the crime. They included: Aminu Ibrahim 25 years of Jabi, Abuja; Gali Ibrahim Abubakar of Kaduna road; Ibrahim Idris a.k.a Nepa of Kad road; Samaila Nasiru, 20 years of Jabi, Abuja; Mohammed Sani, 41 years of Kad road ; Dorcas Thomas, 32 years of Durumi; Rejoice Samaila, 28 years of Durumi and Musa Lawal, 30 years of Sabon-Wuse.
Abiodun narrated: “On 10th June, 2026 at about 3.40am, a distress call was received from Rafin-Chinaka area of Maje, and the Police patrol team attached to Maje Div moved to the scene and discovered that a victim was robbed of a Jincheng motorcycle.
“Having robbed the victim of the motorcycle, the suspects were sighted trying to escape through Zuba axis, and they were pursued by the Police team and one of them named Bitrus James was arrested with the motorcycle.
“In the course of investigation, the suspect mentioned one Aminu and two others as members of a syndicate who specialised in robbing victims of motorcycles and other valuables within Suleja, Kwamba and its environs.
“Based on the suspect’s confession, eight other suspects were arrested in connection with the crime, and they are: Aminu Ibrahim 25yrs of Jabi, Abuja, Gali Ibrahim Abubakar of Kaduna road, brahim Idris a.k.a Nepa of Kad road and Samaila Nasiru 20yrs of Jabi, Abuja

Rejoice Samaila 28yrs of Durumi and Musa Lawal 30yrs of Sabon-Wuse
“Preliminary investigations revealed that Bitrus James, Aminu Ibrahim, Gali Abubakar, Ibrahim Idris and two others at large are members of an armed robbery syndicate terrorising Suleja and environs.
“Bitrus and Aminu confessed to be among the hoodlums who attacked one Alhaji Monsa on 31st May, 2026 at about 3am behind Niger Motel, stabbed him to death with a jackknife and went away with his motorcycle and a bag.
“Musa Lawal who was arrested as a major receiver of stolen motorcycles has confessed to having received numerous stolen motorcycles from Bitrus, Aminu and Ibrahim Idris.
“He added that any motorcycle given to him, he usually sends it to Sani Mohamed who acts as transporter to deliver the motorcycle to buyers in Katsina, Kaduna and other locations. Musa equally offered a bribe to the DPO to terminate the case.
“Samaila Nasiru manages a boutique for Aminu in Jabi where the guns and other dangerous weapons were kept. Rejoice was found harbouring Bitrus James in her house in Durumi, while Dorcas provided her personal details for Bitrus to open an account for proceeds of crime with records of movement of large amount of money.
“Exhibits recovered included two fabricated revolver guns, one axe, jackknife, one live cartridge, eight empty cartridges, a laptop, a bag of the deceased victim, different motorcycle parts, handsets, and different ATM cards,” he said.
The spokesman further disclosed that all the suspects were transferred to the SCID Minna for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
