
Opposition Leader Alex Borg has officially announced the Nationalist Party’s new Shadow Cabinet, appointing 28 Shadow Ministers and eight spokespersons from the party’s parliamentary group.
Describing the team as “a serious Opposition today, a strong government for tomorrow”, Borg said the appointments bring together a mix of experienced MPs and new faces as the PN seeks to present itself as an alternative government.
Among the key appointments, Alex Perici Calascione will serve as Deputy Leader and Shadow Minister for Tourism, Adrian Delia takes on the finance portfolio, Stephen Spiteri will shadow the health ministry, Darren Carabott has been assigned the economy, technology and strategic projects brief, while Mark Anthony Sammut will oversee energy and the environment.
Former PN leader Bernard Grech has been appointed Deputy Speaker and Shadow Minister for European Funds, Social Dialogue and Consumer Protection.
The Shadow Cabinet also includes a number of first-time MPs, with portfolios covering areas ranging from planning and infrastructure to climate change, youth, culture and animal welfare.

Announcing the team, Borg said the parliamentary group would focus on proposing solutions aimed at improving the quality of life of people in Malta and Gozo while preparing the party to govern in the future.
