The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), in partnership with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has distributed food items to 4,399 households displaced by banditry in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The Director-General of NEMA, Mrs Zubaida Umar, represented by the Director of Special Duties, Hajiya Fatima Suleiman Kassim, said the intervention was part of a broader humanitarian programme targeting vulnerable households across the country.
She disclosed that KSrelief had earlier distributed 24,302 food baskets to vulnerable families in Kebbi, Benue, Anambra, Yobe and Taraba states.
“Kebbi State received 4,399 food baskets under the programme for households that had already been profiled,” she said.
The NEMA boss noted that the agency has maintained a long-standing partnership with KSrelief, whose interventions have provided critical support to internally displaced persons and other vulnerable groups in Kebbi State.
She assured stakeholders that the distribution exercise would be conducted transparently through collaboration among NEMA, the Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and trained volunteers.
Speaking at the event, Governor Nasir Idris thanked KSrelief, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting vulnerable Nigerians through humanitarian programmes.
He described NEMA and KSrelief as dependable partners that have consistently provided timely assistance to residents affected by hardship and displacement.
The governor urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the food items and cautioned them against selling the relief materials.
