Political party Momentum has accused KM Malta Airlines of failing to publish its audited financial accounts since the airline was established, questioning whether the national carrier is hiding financial losses.
In a statement, Momentum noted that KM Malta Airlines was founded on 2nd October 2023 and claimed it has not yet presented audited accounts for 2023, 2024 or 2025.
The party argued that companies are legally required to publish audited accounts annually and questioned why the airline has yet to do so.
Momentum Treasurer Carmel Asciak suggested the delays could be an attempt to conceal the airline’s financial performance.
“Has KM Malta Airlines been flouting the law because it wants to keep its losses hidden? Is it because no respectable auditor is ready to sign accounts that are creatively changed, in Konrad Mizzi fashion?” Asciak said.
He also questioned why Finance Minister Clyde Caruana has not addressed the issue publicly.
Momentum said the Maltese public is entitled to know the financial position of the national airline and called for the accounts to be published immediately.
KM Malta Airlines and the government have not yet responded publicly to the allegations.
