Raisa Vella has publicly spoken for the first time about a water slide accident at Jolly Jump Kordin last summer, alleging that she shattered both of her feet after landing on a plastic carpet left at the bottom of a slide.
In a lengthy social media post, Vella said the incident happened on 26th August 2025, her birthday, during what was meant to be a family day out with her children.
According to Vella, she was instructed by a member of staff to go down the slide before colliding with a plastic carpet that she claims had been left in the landing area and “should never have been there”.
She said the impact shattered both of her feet, leaving her unable to keep herself afloat until her boyfriend jumped into the water to pull her to safety.
Vella also claimed she spent five days waiting for surgery before undergoing operations on both feet involving plates and screws. She said the injuries left her unable to walk independently for months, forced her to relearn how to walk and continue to affect her daily life, with another surgery still ahead.
Explaining why she had not spoken publicly until now, Vella said she had been advised to remain silent while legal proceedings were ongoing.
She said her decision to speak out now is about accountability and encouraging others who may have experienced similar incidents to come forward.
“Safety is not a slogan. Safety is a responsibility,” she wrote, adding that she hopes no other family has to go through what hers experienced.
