Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad reaffirmed parliament's commitment to working with the government to mitigate layoffs.
"The Layoff Mitigation Task Force, the government and the DPR will hold regular meetings to coordinate efforts," he told a press conference at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Friday.
Speaking after a coordination meeting with the task force, Dasco said day-to-day coordination between the government and the DPR would be led by DPR Deputy Speaker Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal.
At the press conference, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi was announced as the chair of the Layoff Mitigation Task Force.
Prasetyo said the task force has begun mapping industrial problems to prevent a wave of layoffs and will work with the National Police's Labor Desk on the initiative.

According to him, layoff risks are not concentrated in a single sector because the underlying problems vary.
"For instance, some companies are facing lower demand. Others have capital problems because their funds are kept in troubled banking institutions. This creates problems for the companies, even though the companies themselves are actually healthy," he said.
The task force will therefore map the various problems in detail.
It will mitigate risks on a case-by-case basis for companies vulnerable to layoffs. The task force will also focus on companies that have already laid off workers but have yet to fulfill their obligations to affected employees.
"We are mitigating this case by case because layoffs are not always caused by raw material supply issues, such as gas or coal. Sometimes they stem from internal management conflicts. Whatever the cause, it is our responsibility to work together to mitigate them," Prasetyo said.
