It also placed his driver’s license under a 90-day preventive suspension, the agency said on Friday.

Citing the investigation of the Marikina Police Station, the agency said that the SUV driver allegedly collided with a motorist driving a Yamaha Mio Aerox.
The motorcycle rider succumbed to his injuries.
The agency also said that the SUV driver underwent an Alcohol Breath Analyzer test which resulted in having a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.410%, indicating that he was driving under the influence of alcohol during the crash.
The LTO ordered the SUV driver to appear before the agency’s Office of the Intelligence and Investigation Division on July 8, 2026 and submit a sworn explanation on why he should not be administratively liable for Reckless Driving and Driving while under the Influence of Alcohol or Narcotic Drugs.

But on Jan. 25, Inquirer had reported that the son of Marikina City Vice Mayor Del de Guzman is facing a charge for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property over the death of a public school teacher during a road crash.
In a statement, the Marikina City Police Station had said it filed the charges against the respondent, whom it identified as David Alfre Gonzaga de Guzman, 24 years old.
The cases were submitted at the local prosecutor’s office after the victim, Alexander Quintos Cruz, 27, died of severe injuries last Saturday night. /apl
