GDP and employment grew faster last
year in Southern Italy than in the Centre-North, Istat said in
preliminary estimates Friday.
"In 2025, Gross Domestic Product showed moderately positive and
essentially homogeneous trends across the country's various
regions," Istat stated, specifying that GDP growth in volume was
0.5% in the Northwest, Northeast, and Center, while Southern
Italy recorded a slightly higher increase (+0.6%).
Southern Italy is the area that has most supported employment
growth at the national level, with a 1.5% increase in
employment, followed by Central Italy (+1.1%).
The increase in employment was more modest in the Northern
regions (North-West +0.9% and North-East +0.8%).
